Matias Duarte is Vice President of Material Design and Engineering at Google, responsible for design consistency, design tools, and UX best practices. Prior to founding Material Design, Matias was VP of Design for Android up to the Lollipop release, including Auto, Wear, and TV. His team also designed the Nexus products.
Prior to Google, Matias designed multiple beloved mobile platforms. At Palm he launched WebOS. At Helio he created the Ocean phones, and at Danger he led the design of the T-Mobile Sidekick. Matias received his bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland in College Park. His ongoing mission is to make computers delightful.
